EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment that helps people heal from
trauma, distressing memories, and painful life experiences. When difficult experiences are not fully processed, they may continue to cause anxiety, fear, negative beliefs, emotional reactions, or physical distress long after the event has ended.
During EMDR therapy, you briefly focus on a troubling memory while participating in bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or alternating tapping. This process can help the brain reprocess the memory so that it becomes less emotionally overwhelming. You remain awake, aware, and
in control throughout the session.
EMDR may help people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, grief, childhood trauma,
relationship wounds, or low self-worth. Before trauma processing begins, we will develop coping and grounding skills to help you feel safe and prepared. EMDR does not erase the past, but it can reduce its emotional power and help you move forward with healthier beliefs, greater confidence, and renewed
hope.
